I’m from Texas but I’m a “city” girl who loves her boots – not a “country” girl! You know how we’re stayin’ at this little cottage until we get our permanent location? Well, I specifically got it because Boo loves the outdoors, a sky full of stars, fresh air and open spaces. With the exception of the outdoors, I love all the rest. And yes, sometimes I do think I might like living in the country, to enjoy chickens, vegetable gardens, and then… I have to snap out of it! Cause I would never enjoy taking care of chickens or gardening – let’s get real!
But today I realized that Belle doesn’t need to live in the country…I can just enjoy the countryside from a distance.
I was taking Doz out for her morning relief when I spot something that looks a lot like snake skin…I start to freak out. But it didn’t move and the dog went right by it. So I thought maybe the snake shed its skin and that’s all it is. So curious me, reaches for the closest extended item and I find a wire and I frantically shake the “thing” and it moves and I freak— it’s just a stupid lizard of some sort. My hands shook for a couple of hours (really)! I took a picture of it cause I knew Boo would make fun of me (which he still did).
So back in the house to say a thankful prayer for shelter (from critters and such), for the fresh banty hen eggs a new acquaintance gave us (even though they didn’t come from my dream chickens) and to use those eggs to make something delicious, and to realize I just need to stay in the city.
