We arrived in Austin and it has been a whirlwind since getting here. First, the day before we moved into the cottage (our temp place), there was quite the thunderstorms and showers. Thank GOD for the rain, because we need it but… this is a picture of the road leading to the cottage and the other of the vehicles floating are from an area where some of Boo’s co-workers were called out and they lost their vehicles.
The cottage was fine but some of the locals did not fare as well. Every time I drive into town, there is a home we go past that the elderly couple had several feet of water in their home. They have had lots of volunteers come and help them daily.
The day after we moved in, I had time to get Boo situated and then my girlfriends came by to pick me up for our weekend getaway. I had driven past this little charming bakery the night before and since I was supposed to prepare a snack for the road trip… I stopped and picked these little delicious cheesecakes.
Here are some pics of our trip. First stop: Texas Pie Co. (Laura wanted their pumpkin praline) – unfortunately, they had run out. Lunch there was great though! Stops at: New Canaan Farms, an awesome Salvage place that I will certainly frequent! They had wonderful architectural elements, and my friend found some beautiful corbels that I am restoring for her – pics to come.
Cafe’s n diners we went to:
Alamo Springs Cafe for the best hamburger ever!
Good times and just what I needed after the “moving” fiasco! Love spending time with my girls but most of all, I am thankful to have such wonderful ladies in my life~
