Rainbo bread that is!
When I was a little girl, I grew up near the local “Rainbo” bread factory in Harlingen, TX. I remember, especially in the fall and winter, if you stood anywhere outside you would suddenly catch the wafting smell of the fresh bread being baked there. It was an awesome smell and was one of the things I loved about growing up there. GOSH I loved that smell!!! You would also see those trucks all over town, stocking those store shelves and they all came from that factory down the way.
I have to admit I don’t hardly ever eat white bread now- but on a very rare occasion, I will find myself craving a sandwich made out of white bread. (I hate that bread comes in a large loaf like it does because it tends to go bad before we eat it). Tonight I had a craving for such a sandwich but I think it was mostly craving that smell- cause I do believe fall is around the bend and I can’t wait!
I think it’s incredible how our senses can bring back memories and remind us of “what and where’s”. So Rainbo- thank you for the memories of my family, home, and that delicious bread! To the nostalgia brought on by the sweet sense of smell~
