I am so tired but mainly saddened by all the bs involving Miley Cyrus and I hate that I am even having to post on this. But, I believe in dreams and I believe that talent of any kind is a GIFT and that if you are blessed enough to have both than you should not only be thankful but respect it! I have a son that is a songwriter/musician and when he chose this path, I knew it would be a difficult road. It is a daunting and trying path and one that he can tell you – brings a lot of things with it. But, he will also tell you that he would see himself doing nothing else but not at any cost, especially self preservation.
Back to Miley… when it comes down to it all (the publicity, the money, the notoriety), it is YOU who is ultimately responsible for YOU and how you want others to treat you, perceive you and respect you. YES, the industry can be cruel and difficult but who you are is more important than all of that and you can rise above it. It’s done by respecting YOURSELF, your family and your VALUE. It is your character that is being compromised, (and applies to whatever or whomever you decide to become in life).
Maybe it is more difficult for women in this industry, but good LORD, life is more difficult for women (.)!!! Look around and get over it!
There are many “well known” classy ladies that NEVER gave or have given in to this kind of exposure. Examples… Bonnie Raitt, Carly Simon, Norah Jones, Billie Holiday, Emmy Lou Harris, Audrey Hepburn. They didn’t feel the need to “porn” or parade themselves out to be heard and valued. Then, there’s are also very classy gents that come to mind as well… George Strait, the Beatles, Elvis, Rod Stewart, Cary Grant. And yes, I’m not saying that none of them had issues, we ALL have issues.
The difference? They don’t/didn’t feel the need to expose themselves and have themselves PLASTERED in the media in that way. And yes, the industry will stop at nothing to make money off of you, but bottom line… YOU need to stand up for yourself and YOU need to know where you are willing TO DRAW THE LINE (.)!!!
Final vent: I just wish that the Miley’s in the world, would have had someone that taught them that!
