Hi sweet friends! It’s brr-cold, snow on the ground, 3 degrees outside and perfect weather for writing this latest post. A drink to get us going is about some of my go-to beverages, especially for when I’m under the weather.
I’ve often been asked by friends, how do I get going in the mornings? The same friends that seem to think I have super powers of some sort because I can carry on, day in and day out. They want to know what gets me going.
Guys, it’s NOT coffee. I am not a coffee drinker. As a matter of fact, I can’t stand the smell of coffee. I actually stopped shopping at Target when they decided to have a Starbucks in the main entrance of their store. Where you can smell it even reaching out to the parking lot. That smell nauseates me and there is no way I can enjoy shopping while smelling that the entire time.
But I’ll tell you what I do love.
Plenty of other drinks. It just depends on what mood I’m in.
TEA in any shape or form, hot or cold. Sweet and unsweet. Is my go-to 99% of the time.
Lately, it was plenty of iced – sweet tea. When I am on a mission, working on something I have to concentrate and finish…it’s sweet tea!
I’d been removing wallpaper from our foyer in our very old house. Wallpaper that I’m not really sure how long has been clinging to those walls (there’s still lots more of it up the stairs and in the landing and the halls). I will attempt that at another time. But for now, I was just trying to get the foyer updated. It took me longer than I anticipated because it was old wallpaper, it came off in tiny bits, and I had other things come up while I was at it. Only Jesus and sweet tea could get me to finish that foyer!!! I do declare!
On my very last day of removing the final section of paper, while excited at this, I started to not feel to great. Itchy throat, runny nose, no motivation. I pushed myself to get it done, talking myself into the fact that I would feel better just having reached that goal!
Not so much though. I decided to fix a big pot of chicken soup for dinner, cause any kind of chicken soup helps one feel better right? It helped but I wondered if hot tea or moon milk would really do the trick. What is your go to drink when you don’t feel well? For some it might be something strong. I hear whiskey and bourbon help. Then there’s others that like lemon juice and pure honey.
A drink to get us going
So you’ve not heard of moon milk, dream milk? But you have heard of warm milk to help you sleep at night, right? That’s what moon milk is…basically! With a little additions.
A combination of deliciousness like spices or fruits mixed in with warm-frothy milk. MMM!!!?
If you add root powder, than you’ve got a highly motivational drink happening! This moon milk is my go-to. My “I will sleep better and feel better the next day” remedy! It’s so soothing I decided to share it today!
It contains cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and honey for a terrific soothing blend. Usually does the trick! Give it a try next time you’re sluggish or needing some help relaxing before bedtime.
