Happy November— and what am I talking about? Let’s just say I love to cook, I have lots of cooking vessels, and storage is/was, complicated. Then there’s the fact that where I had my pans, was too much work to get to them. That is where channeling a Julia Child’s pan wall comes in!
I remember watching a documentary on Julia Child and seeing her wall of pans/cooking supplies, and thinking—way too cluttered for an OCD person like me. But then fast forward to the last 3 years, running a B&B, and cooking a whole lot more than I ever have.
My OCD had to temporarily be put on the back burner. At least while I envisioned how much easier my life in the kitchen would be should I be able to just reach for the pan I needed.
Without having to hunt, dig, stack on top of stack just for that right pan. Just like that. So I had to have a talk with my Boo and explain what I had in mind. A wall of pans. Our scullery would be the perfect spot! (At least to satisfy OCD Belle as well as semi-norm Belle!)
Several months ago I had bought 20 bronze hooks just for my wall of pans! Out they came for this reality. It was time!
My sweet Boo grabbed a couple of old barn wood boards and went to town with very little help from me, I might add.
A Julia Child’s pan wall
Just like that, as if I’d twirled my magic wand—-all of my pans were relocated and organized.
The sheer pleasure of thinking I would no longer have to lift those super heavy cast iron pans back and forth to reach the one I needed… brought me so much joy!
Boo didn’t understand my enthusiasm and probably thinks I’m so easy to please. And he’s right!
Only one with an insane collection of cooking utensils and supplies can probably understand this kind of excitement!
Now for my rolling pins 😗
I love Julia Child’s but I love your version of the pan wall! Rustic and organized! ❤️❤️❤️ Great idea!!
I appreciate it Nicole! I am loving how functional it is- but looks pretty cool as well.
You have given me the best idea and shown me (another OCD child) I can do this… I will do this! Cooking & baking is my passion, so needless to say my laundry room has a big metal rack loaded with baking pans of all shapes and sizes (the shelves had been meant for all the small appliances) and room for all my pots and pans which are stacked and shoved in the kitchen cabinets. I have a big empty wall in my kitchen (except for a couple paintings & photos I can move to another room. You have given me the inspiration to put my OCD issues in a drawer and make this pan wall happen.
Thank you! Thank you!
Love the functional and attractive way to hand pots… what is the style of the hangers?
