Citrus scrub for beautiful skin

HELLO friends!  Still winter here but maybe not in your part of the world. I have to say, I am ready for Spring for many reasons.  Winter has been harsh on my face & hands. Having soft – supple skin is always a good thing so that’s what this post is about!  I happen to love skin care and especially gentle skin care.  Exfoliating is a must! I love anything citrus which makes this a perfect scrub for me.  But I’m pretty sure you’re gonna love it as well.  Citrus scrub for beautiful skin is what’s up!

harsh skin products

I’m always careful on what I put on my skin. I can remember a time when I was a teenager, my sister in law brought us a variety of lip balms.  We were so excited to each get our own that I liberally started applying mine.  Minutes later I could feel my lips on fire and within 15 minutes my lips we’re ginormous. Huge and intense!  I had a terrible, allergic reaction.  My mom and sister in law rushed me to the hospital. The doctor of course told me to toss the lip balm out and never use anything that had those ingredients in it.

A year later I applied Nivea lotion all over because it was winter and my skin was super dry.  The skin on my hands and legs and feet just started to come off in layers (kinda like when you get sunburnt bad and you peel like crazy)!  It was awful.  To this day, I have never used Nivea anything.  So, yes. I’m a delicate flower with delicate skin! lol

Over the years though, my skin has become more open to new products but I still don’t apply much of store bought products on my face, lips or eyes.

Homemade scrubs and lotions—oh yeah, I love them! Especially ones with coconut oil and citrus ingredients!  This one turned out amazing!  I’ve been using my lemon scrub all winter but it was running low. I had lots of oranges, so I decided to try a different combo. It’s AMAZING!!!

Minty Orangesicle Whipped Scrub

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. coconut oil
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1-2 T. orange juice
  • 1 T. orange zest
  • 6 drops citrus fresh essential oil
  • 3 drops peppermint essential oil

Instructions

  • Combine the oil and sugar in your mixer with a paddle attachment.
  • Whip until well blended and smooth.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and blend a bit longer.
  • Store in a mason jar in your fridge for several months.

To use:  Wet hands, face or body and gently rub the scrub on.  Exfoliating as you rub and massage in a circular motion.  Do not use hard scrubbing as this might cause irritation.  Rinse and pat dry.

Note: you can use food coloring to tint your scrub.  I used the coloring you use for homemade soaps because I had those on hand.
