Ever wonder how some cakes & cupcakes taste fluffy, light, yet delicious? It’s a simple little ingredient…CAKE FLOUR! What can you make with cake flour, you ask? Cakes, muffins, cupcakes. To list a few. Oooh and wonderful chocolate chip cookies (more on that later)! Should I really buy it when I might only use it once in awhile? Well, if you like baking your cakes & cupcakes from scratch and not from a box…this is the way to go! Homemade cake flour & how to use it, on this weeks post.
You could buy your cake flour or you can just make your mock version. (*Keep in mind this is not gluten free!). It’s only 2 ingredients and I bet you already have those 2 ingredients in your cupboard or readily available! All-purpose flour & cornstarch. Sift the two together and call it done.
That’s it!!! Seriously guys…it’s that simple and there will be a big difference in the end result. Game changer!
I whip up several batches and store it in an airtight container that way it is always there and ready to be used. It will give you less dense and chewy results. Which is what you want in your homemade goodies!
Other benefits for making this… you’re saving money on not buying the ‘pre-made” stuff and you’re using ingredients you already have on hand. Win-win. You can mix up as little or as much as you want.
