Does anyone else out there have an obsession with mini things? Serve-ware, ramekins, and small portion containers? What is the attraction??? Well this post is two-fold…mini things and child snacks (for those mini humans)!
I love tapas and I guess perhaps that’s why mini dishes catch my eye…those cute little, small portion containers! Alls I can figure is that because I’m not a “left-over” lover, and I prefer to eat small portions and a variety of foods, is the reason for my fascination and love of small dishes. I don’t know!
But case in point…
Get the picture?! Although, in my defense, I do love to entertain and like to have plenty of serve-ware. But, back to the point of this post…
CHILD SNACKS- Mini things
Either way, it got me thinking about our grandson because he is very active and loves his snacks but I don’t like having leftover bags of snacks all over the house when he decides he wants a bag but doesn’t eat it all. And, I love to give him a variety of snack combinations vs just a bag of something. (I was really thinking’ of me in case there are leftovers and I end up having to eat them vs tossing ’em out! LOL) So, I came up with this simple solution and we both love it!!!
I found a great mini box container at Amazon, with several compartments in it. But you can customize it by adding or taking out the divider tabs. I took out 2 in one section to fit a cheese stick. Then the other compartments can hold perfect mini portions of fruits, gummy bears, or crackers. You name it!
Some examples of the combinations I’ve done:
- goldfish
- grapes
- cheese stick
- mini pepperoni’s
- mandarin orange slices
- trail mix
I also used my Cricut to do a little name sticker for it.
But you can do their name or anything your kiddos are into. Ours, is totally into dinosaur’s right now and has this little animation he does of stomping and chomping and I thought that would be a clever little name for his treat box. You can click H E R E for the Cricut vinyl diy file you can download. (*Holler if you have trouble with the download!)
Guys! He LOVES this little box and as soon as we get in the car or his wagon to head out, he looks around or asks for his. So this was definitely a hit!
