Happy FALL–finally & officially!!! And can you guess what this blog post is about? Well, how about a pumpkin floral pick hack? It’s an inexpensive and adorable way to decorate for this awesome FALL season!
I was at Wal-Mart one day and spotted these mini foam pumpkins for 98¢. I grabbed a handful to use with the sunflowers I had picked up at Hobby Lobby. A sprucing up of my door wreath.
These mini pumpkins came in great fall colors and were the perfect size for my door wreath. I figured I could just cut them in half so they’d lay flat and I would get double the pumpkins for my project.
I discovered a long time ago that an electric knife does wonders for cutting through foam(s). I’ve tried it on upholstery foam, packaging foam and on floral foam. My poor little vintage, electric cutting knife never fails!
You can also use a very sharp knife, should you not own an electric knife. But if you do, your job is cut in half.

You’ll get a crisp, nice cut every time! See video below!
So why would you want to do this in the first place? Like I said, it comes in handy on door wreaths cause then they can lay flush against the door and not “pooch” (stick) out!
Once you slice ’em in half, then you can insert a floral pick and insert into your wreath!
I did three different shaped and colored pumpkins for my wreath and you can see them better below!
I used sunflowers, various greens and a checkered ribbon to tie it all together.
Along with a cute little board I painted and added to the center.
Now it’s off to finish my rearranging of rooms, as I got carried away the last couple days.
We’ve got more busy days ahead. Along with the end of soccer season for the grands, hosting some guests at our B&B, and some upcoming event planning.
October is a super busy month for us! And then of course, the holidays are upon us!
Just like that~
