Our perfect weather the last 2 days has allowed me some time to work outdoors on these beauties—some very old corbels! See what it took for these revamped corbels to shine again. It was quite the tedious task but my most gratifying to see how they turned out.
I absolutely love architectural elements and when I was given the opportunity to re-vamp these babies—-I jumped at it! The owner will use them as a base for a wall shelf to display what-nots.
Once I started chippin’ away and takin’ the paint off, (much of which was literally fallin’ off on it’s own), I could see the beautiful workmanship a lot clearer and the intricate “tulip” design on each side. They were actually hard to see with the paint embedded in there. I counted at least six layers of paint and also discovered that at one point these were in a fire—see?
Here are some progress shots…
In a couple of days I had them lookin’ the way they were meant to shine…in full glory!
Revamped Corbels
Sure hope the new owner will send pics so I can show them in their final resting place!
