Hello Spring! Dreaded time change, SPRING FORWARD! Boy, how it messes with my mind and life! LOL! Since Spring officially starts on March 20th it’s not too early to start getting ready…so come on in and I’ll give you some ideas.
My front door! I painted it when we first bought the house 3 years ago, a cheery yellow that I had to mix up to get it to accent the stone on our home’s exterior. Don’t ask me the name, I just call it cheery yellow! But I managed to start adding signs of Spring at the doorway by adding some new lavender and wildflower sprigs to my old vine wreath to freshen it up a bit.
Then an inviting dining room table, with bunnies, lentils and all!
Did you know you can use lentils, (yes, the dry beans), as fillers like I did in this centerpiece? I didn’t have grass but I had a jar full of lentils with the perfect shade of greens. So why not!
And speaking of greens! Coming back from the funeral, I stopped at one of my favorite farmer’s market in Driscoll. A car full of strawberries, fresh jalapeños, mangoes, bell peppers, and limes, later…
The canning frenzy began with homemade strawberry jam & jalapeño jelly.
Along with some grilled goodness!
Grilled mangoes & pineapple slices are delicious paired with shrimp or chicken that’s glazed with the jalapeño jelly! Then you add a side of cilantro lime rice and I’ll tell you what!!! Deliciousness!
Strawberry season in Texas is generally in April and now you have something to look forward to. Stock up! I couldn’t believe that I got the jalapeños for about 10 to12 in a bag for 79¢! What a steal! Wish now I had picked up way more.
Easily one of my favorite times for fresh produce and grilling season and now I’ve given you a few tips on what I do to liven a simple meal with some fresh produce along with jelly/jamming options.
Spring forward
Don’t forget to get outside and get the stink blown off ya as well—enjoy the countryside or some water therapy!
Jam away and keep an eye out for my upcoming post! I have a cute printable for Easter, (April 16th), that you’ll want to print and share! Now Spring forward my friend~
