How happy would you be if I told you I have a summer drink MUST that will add a bit of minty-sweetness to your favorite beverage? Iced tea, agua fresca, mojito? Intrigued? You’re gonna want to have this summer drink MUST in your fridge, ready to serve up anytime you need a cool drink (jazzed up)! Trust me—
It’s a subtle, sweet, minty addition that’s quite easy to make.
Heard of simple syrups? You can find them at your grocer or liquor store, but why would you want to when you can easily make your own? All you need is sugar, water and in this case, fresh mint, (which we happen to have in our herb garden).
Mint Simple Syrup
Ingredients
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. water
- 1 1/2 c. fresh rinsed mint leaves
Instructions
- Combine all the ingredients in a small saucepan and boil on medium - high heat until sugar is dissolved, then simmer for an additional 2 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. Strain leaves and pour syrup into a jar or closed container. Refrigerate until ready to use in your favorite drink!
Summer drink MUST
This is wickedly delicious and I won’t take my iced tea any other way! It’s not too sweet and has the perfect blend of mint in it. If you don’t have mint readily available, you can go to your local produce.
Tell me about your favorite summer drink or favorite summer anything! But be sure to try this out on the coconut agua fresca I posted this week!
Now, excuse me while I grab my mint simple syrup induced iced tea and catch up on some of my favorite blogs! Stay tuned for a great favorite—another summer treat—on my next post—-as Happy Summer continues!
