Scenario:
You jump out of the pool where you’ve been soaking up the rays and floating in the cool water because you’re in Texas and the temp is 90+. You’re little hearts desiring a cold beverage to cool you off. What would that dream beverage be? Well, this post will help…summer fruits – beverage must!
This chica wants an ice cold agua fresca! A sandia (watermelon) agua fresca, comes to mind because I have a bowl full in my fridge that I just cubed and it taunts me every time I reach for something else in the fridge and I end up grabbin’ a handful to chomp on. Honestly! The only ONLY thing I love about summer… is the abundance of fresh fruits that are available during this season!
When I finally get the watermelon cut up and stored in the fridge…agua fresca came to mind. But you’re sayin’…”what on God’s green earth is aqua fresca”? Cuz you’ve obviously never been far south enough to know what or where you can enjoy a glassful of this tasty refreshment. It’s pretty much a liquefied fruit drink.
I’m gonna show you how you can make your own. Hardest part about it…well there isn’t one. So no excuses!
AQUA FRESCA de SANDIA
- 2 c. cubed watermelon
- 2 t. agave nectar
- 1 T. sparkling water (or regular)
- 1 t. lime juice
In a blender, add all of the following ingredients and blend away until your desired consistency. *(I prefer mine with some small chunks in it) Serve over ice & enjoy the refreshing taste
*Optional: mint leaves or lime slices
* Other flavors:
- Piña (pineapple) – substitute the watermelon & add 1 c. of water vs the 1 T above
- Mango – substitute the watermelon
*Depending on the sweetness of pineapple or mango you might not need to add the agave as a sweetener!
These drinks are very refreshing & easy to prepare for a small party or any summer gathering!
Now go practice on yourself before you have guests over cuz you’ll be making these all summer.
Un refresco por favor~
SISTER!!!!!!!!!! YOU HAVE A POOL? WISH I WERE WITH YOU AND A NICE DRINK TOO!
