Mother, mother ocean, I have heard you call
Wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall
You’ve seen it all, you’ve seen it all
A pirate looks at 40—lyrics to one of my favorite songs! I don’t know if it’s just the lyrics, the music combination that gets me every time, or the fact that I know all about the ocean calling me! Truly I do. I miss living less than 15 miles away, like I did for 28 years, that I could just drive and get my fix in an instance. This song or my missing the ocean has nothing to do with this post —lol! Had you fooled…other than I like it and summer time is when most people frequent beaches and the coast. Let’s talk about summer skin and my recipe for a homemade SUMMER SKIN SCRUB your gonna love!
Winter has a tendency of drying out your skin, but so do summers. Hydration, moisturizing and EXFOLIATING are key to healthy glowing skin! I tend to drink an endless amount of water in the summertime and I moisturize every day just like I have since I was 17! But you also need to exfoliate to get the dry scaly skin layer off to expose butt smooth-soft skin. If that’s what you’ve been wanting…butt smooth soft skin, you’ve come to the right place! Cause after playing around for some time for a recipe to make your very own skin scrub, I came up with one I LOVE!!!
First… my 4 tips on taking better care of your precious face & skin during these hot summer months. They’re super simple but play an important part in keeping your skin supple and fabulous! Who doesn’t want that?! Proper maintenance of your face and skin is NOT rocket science—just commitment and hydration!
4 rules for Summer skin= glowing soft skin
- Hydrate (drink lots of water)
- Moisturize (if you don’t already— start!)
- Exfoliate at least once a week, especially if you’re outside often
- Always PAT dry
Second…the recipe for an awesome skin scrub that will exfoliate and soften your face!
SUMMER SKIN SCRUB
- 2 Tablespoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon fractionated coconut oil
- 2 drops lavender essential oil
- 2 drops frankincense essential oil
Directions:
Combine baking soda and coconut oil until it looks like a paste. Add one drop each of lavender and frankincense essential oils. Blend together and store in airtight containers.
For use: Wet skin, then scoop a small amount of scrub on your fingertips and with gentle circular motions, massage and scrub to remove dead skin. Allow the scrub to sit on your face for a short time so the essential oils have time to soak into your skin and help moisturize and seep into your pores. (BONUS–you’ll love the way it smells!!!)
Rinse off and PAT DRY! You might notice a bit of redness at first, but it will fade quickly. Now apply or don’t apply makeup—you will love how your face feels!
Repeat no more than twice per week.
Now you have an easy regimen for getting healthy glowing skin! Don’t forget to drink up and drop me a note on whether you liked or tried my scrub recipe!
