Do you have a favorite piece of furniture in your home?

Cause this is it for me. I happened upon this piece years ago in Rockwall, Texas as I wandered in to see what treasures I could find and they were barely unloading it. I immediately fell in love and knew the perfect place for it in my home. I had all my measurements in a binder in my car so I ran out and ran back in and told the attendant that I wanted it. In a few minutes, her, her husband, and myself all loaded it into my SUV and it made its way to its new home.
When we moved to Iowa it made its way here with us and had to be in storage for a long time. But when we found our current home, I knew exactly where it would fit and go. And it did! Like it was meant to be! Some things are just meant to be! Right?

Guys, next month Boo and I will celebrate 39 years together. Do you know how much can happen in 39 years? Of course you do! I'm a pretty nostalgic gypsy chick and not materialistic. But, there are a lot of things I hold on to because I love them. My molcajete has been with us since the day we married.
.
I've used it many times over the course of the 39 years but I've never really properly seasoned it the way it should have been. It's a lot of hard work! But you do this in order for it to work better and give you the outcome that you want. Which is perfect spice blending, salsas, etc. without it setting into the crevices of the hardened lava rock. Recently I had the kids help me as I tried to finally get it seasoned the way it should be. (You know, extra hands!) It took several days of grinding rice into fine powder until --FINALLY---we had the smoothest surface all around. We were done! It is ready and it is perfectly seasoned! And it only took me 39 years! LOL
.
A lot of hard work to get it right... just as in a marriage! After all these years, you never really get "well seasoned". You come close. But there'll always be learning. Learning to perfect and blend. Eventually reaching a point where you know each other, you love the time spent together, the holding on to one another. Which is the best reason to keep someone (or something) around!!! ❤︎

They are my favorite rose! My sweet hubs got these for me today for my birthday. When we started dating back in 1980 his aunt who owned a flower shop would often have white roses in stock and if I was lucky, my sweet man would surprise me with them. They represent lots of love between this man and me for 49 years!
