For those of you that have yet to wear that badge of honor, can I just tell you that nothing compares to this grandma thing. NOTHING! What can I tell any 2, 3, 4, or more time grandma that she doesn’t already know?
Lots of watching and playing with my first grandson who’s in his terrible twos. (Only according to his momma). I can’t help but be amazed, as I was with my own kids when they were young. Everything they encounter, is NEW. Just like grandma-hood is for me! Amazing, wonderful, and beyond words.
I visited to help the parents with the two-year-old while they bring home the new baby. For me, it’s a time to be able to “play pretend & explore” with a toddler once again.
I love this age!!! How they’re discovering the world. Most importantly, how if you pull yourself away from your phone, TV, or busy life, you can not only teach and mold them into beautiful humans. You will learn a lot from them as well.
When we think they weren’t watching or listening, they’ve been doing just that. That’s why it’s so important to be aware of the magnitude of teaching that you can give them every step of the way. (Like him pulling out his tools and repairing his 4 wheeler after the ride – just like daddy does.)
To be able to see them use their imagination at this age is one of my favorites of being around a child.
Capturing bubbles, racing, dancing, pretending to buy and eat imaginary food, baking together. Makes for some great memories and cherished moments. Priceless!
A picnic might not be a big deal to you, for a child… (If this almost 60 year old grandma can shimmy up 6′ to a play fort to have a private dining experience- al fresco!), it must be priceless as well.
this grandma thing
Life is an adventure! A giant playhouse, and an endless vessel of teaching opportunities for little beings! I’d be a fool to not honor this grandma thing with as much passion and spirit as I did for my own babies.
Just like the parenting thing, this grandma thing…if you have it…don’t waste it! It’s the coolest!grandma, parenting
