Winter Exfoliating Facial Scrub

01.28.19

Winter is among us here in little Mayberry.  A slow start but here nonetheless.  Bringing with it sinus, congestion and drier skin for me. I’m always mindful of taking care of my skin and pores but winter does take its toll.  My post is on a winter exfoliating facial scrub that helps with glowing-softer skin and you will most likely have these ingredients in your kitchen already.  It’s such a great refreshing blend and the lemon scent will make you not – think of winter!

Winter Exfoliating Facial Scrub-gullycreekcottage-scrub

An inexpensive little facial scrub that takes minutes to make.  Your lips, hands and feet as well as exfoliating your lovely piel (skin) will all benefit from this scrub.  You will love the radiant – soft outcome.

Those little dry skin, face flurries will disappear along with dry patches. You’ll get supple and glowing skin that will thank you for paying that little attention to it.Never have been a girl that spends foolishly on facial products because I prefer to keep it natural when I can.  That applies to scrubs, moisturizers, and daily creams if at all possible.  If you’ve never made your own facial scrubs or moisturizers it’s really not that complicated.  You use items that you typically already have at home.  Products like coconut oil, grapeseed oil, castor oil, sugars, and salts are all great ingredients to start with.  You want to keep it natural, and what can be more natural than lemons, honey, and sugar?

Winter Exfoliating Facial Scrub-gullycreekcottage-honey

My pantry always has local grown honey not just for my sopapillas and hot tea but to use for natural remedies as well. In my fridge you’ll usually find lemons!  I’m a HUGE tea drinker but lemons also are great for so many things.  During my sinus issue days I drink lots of hot lemon tea with honey and it’s perfectly soothing and healing.

Don’t laugh when I tell you that you’ll want to eat this scrub and of course, you can if you want. It smells so good and it tastes wonderful! You can drop spoonfuls of this in your hot tea (seriously). Simple & natural ingredients.  But if you want to know how to use it and store it for exfoliating, follow the easy steps below.  It takes less than 5 minutes to mix up and you’ll reap several weeks of exfoliating for your efforts.

My little 3 year old grandson was upset with me ye My little 3 year old grandson was upset with me yesterday.
.
All because he decided to take his blankie home 2 days before and when we layed down to take a nap yesterday he was upset. Upset he didn’t have his blankie and upset at Mimzy for not getting it for him. I hate to see children unhappy and that little face of his with tears rolling down made me sadder than he was. I gave him 3 other blankets that didn’t replace his #1 blankie. When he woke up he was still mad at me!
.
It was the 1st and hopefully last time he’s ever mad at me, cause I sure didn’t like that and I didn’t even cause the problem to begin with. All I know is that we got that blankie back over here to avoid this happening again. The clock maybe ticking and he’s growing full speed ahead but I don’t want to see that little man mad at his Mimzy if I can help it!

Thursday oh Thursday! . Doing something I haven’ Thursday oh Thursday!
.
Doing something I haven’t done in 5 years and channeling my inner “momma”!
.
Boo and I were shopping in DesMoines and we stopped in at a local tortilleria as I had ordered some masa. However they informed me they only sell in 10 pounds or more... so out the window went my “I’ll just get 5 pounds of masa for tamales” plan. Ten pounds of masa later, I immediately called my sister for backup help! Lol
.
So today is the day for tamales! First time I’ll make ‘em since my mommas been gone. So I’m hoping she’s watching and guiding me along.
.
On a good note... the masa texture looks amazing so I’m hoping it’s a good sign!!! Wish me luck!

Well, it’s a different word for a Butler’s pantry. We’ve been updating ours and I find that I’m not a Butler’s pantry kinda girl. I replaced the original door with this beauty of a door I snatched for $12! I repaired the broken panes and took a piece of plywood to make a new center panel. I then added these details on it.
.
Our home was built for the David Dancer family in 1883. I added the wash, fold, etc. as the space also houses our laundry room. One of these days I can show you the REST of the space but until now, you get a peek at the lovely old door leading into our scullery!
