winter & holiday spirit

11.27.14

Well, at least in the midwest it has!  We’ve been enjoying Thanksgiving with our kids in the midwest and we sure have enjoyed our time with them, and the wonderful sights. Especially everything covered in snow!  Definitely puts me in a winter & holiday spirit.

So I thought I would share some beautiful scenes along with some of my shopping stops in hope that it will put YOU in the holiday spirit as well.

Our daughter lives in a small, country town.  It is rural, remote, quiet and inviting.  Our visits usually remind us of quieter and laid back days when everything around us wasn’t going at full speed ahead.  Take that and the sights and snow and you have a Norman Rockwell kind of scene.  Currier and Ives kinda surroundings.

Let me show you what that looks like.  From the giant barns, which there’s lots of, to the kids sledding, the varieties of homemade goods being sold.  The Amish sell their quilts, jams, baskets and furniture and you can find those wares throughout.

Then you have the beauty of the frozen ponds and lakes that seem to glisten in the day and at night.  It makes for a beautiful sight!

I love snow and I love winter.  Even though Fall is my favorite season, I love everything about the peacefulness that snow brings.  There’s so much beauty from fresh fallen snow, how it glistens and the quiet it seems to bring with it.  My favorite is stepping outdoors and sitting still at night to watch and listen.  So peaceful and just breathtaking.

A few more days with our kiddos here and then back to Texas to celebrate Thanksgiving with our son & his girlfriend.

Then on to getting ready for another special holiday.  Cheerio till my next post~
